What are the requirements for applicants immigrating to the U.S. as nurses?
Nurses must apply for an Immigrant Visa Petition for Classification as a Skilled Worker Qualified for pre-certification under Schedule A of the Department of Labor (DOL).

There is no need to go through labor certification process - a Form I-140 may be directly submitted.

Nurses must be employed with a qualified employer.
Nurses need to meet these minimum requirements:
- Two years experience or two years training,
- RN license if in U. S.

- Pass TOEFL examination

- Obtain visa screen certificate from Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nurses (CGFNS) agency in Philadelphia .
- Foreign nurses need to pass CGFNS examination and obtain a visa screen certificate

What is the filing process for nurses?
   
Nurses must submit Forms I-140 and I-485 to the local Service Center if they are in the U. S.
Nurses must submit a Form I-140 if they are outside the U. S. After approval, the nurse must apply for an immigrant visa at an overseas U.S. consulate.
