P Visa

What is P visa?
The P visa categories are reserved for aliens coming to the U.S. to perform in athletics or entertainment. This visa category will usually cover those entertainers and athletes who cannot qualify under the O category. There are categories of P visas: P-1 allows internationally recognized artist, entertainer, or athlete to enter into the U.S. to participate in a performance for a U.S. employer or a U.S. agent. The P2 visa is available to artists and entertainment groups for entering the U.S. to perform under a reciprocal exchange program between the U.S. and the foreign country. A P-3 visa classification is given to artists or entertainers coming to the U.S. for the purpose of developing, interpreting, representing, coaching, or teaching a unique or traditional ethnic, folk, cultural, musical, theatrical, or artistic performance or presentation for a U.S employer of U.S. agent.

What is the application process?
The petition needs to be submitted by qualifying organization/employer.
The beneficiary must provide copies of credentials and award certificates.
An advisory opinion by CIS designated labor organization must be obtained.
The petition must be approved by a Service Center.
 
If the beneficiary is outside the U.S. , an application for a visa at an overseas U. S. Consulate must be obtained.

Can family members of the P visa holder come to the U.S. ?
Yes, family members are qualified to join under P-4 category.
